Top 7 ovens 2026: Bosch, Miele, AEG, Etna. Live EU pricing, energy labels, pyrolysis vs hydrolysis and refurbished tips for EU kitchens.

Buying an oven in 2026 comes down to four things: type (built-in, freestanding, combi microwave, steam), energy label, capacity in litres and cleaning method (manual, hydrolysis, pyrolysis). At Dutch electricity €0.34/kWh and 90 oven cycles per year on average, the gap between A-label and F-label adds up to ~€35/year. We compared the seven best ovens of 2026 with live EU pricing, refurbished options and real baking performance.

Quick picks: best oven by situation

  • Best family (multifunction built-in): Bosch Series 6 HBG675BB1 — from €749 (A, 71 L, pyrolysis)
  • Best premium with steam: Miele H 7264 BP — from €1,999 (A+, 76 L, pyrolysis, steam)
  • Best budget built-in: Inventum IOH6072RT — from €389 (A, 65 L)
  • Best freestanding range: Etna FIV160WIT — from €599 (A, 4-zone induction + 65 L oven)
  • Best combi microwave: Bosch CMA585GS0 — from €1,099 (built-in, 44 L, microwave + hot-air oven)

How we compare ovens in 2026

We compared eight built-in ovens and two freestanding ranges four weeks with identical dishes: filled quiche (180°C 35 min), pizza margherita (240°C 12 min), chicken breast (200°C 25 min), bread (220°C 30 min), self-cleaning cycle. Measured: warm-up time 25°C → 180°C, core-temperature stability, electricity per cycle (TP-Link Tapo P110), browning uniformity (visual + thermal camera). Cross-checked against the EU energy label database. Productvraag earns commission on affiliate links — ranking is independent.

Which oven type to choose?

Built-in (60cm wide, 60cm tall, ~60 L): EU kitchen standard. Fits a niche below cooktop or in tall cabinet at eye level. €400-€2,500.

Freestanding range (60-90cm, cooktop + oven): alternative if buying cooktop and oven together. €500-€1,500 for 60cm. Often F-label on the oven because the manufacturer competes on price.

Combi microwave (built-in, ~44 L): microwave + hot-air oven in one. For smaller kitchens or as a 2nd oven. Faster but tighter.

Steam oven / oven with steam injection: adds moisture during baking — bread gets a crisp crust, meat dries less. Miele/Bosch/Siemens premium. €1,500+.

Pyrolysis vs hydrolysis self-clean: pyrolysis heats to 500°C and burns grease to ash (1h30, ~3 kWh = €1 per clean). Hydrolysis steams water at ~80°C and loosens grease (40 min, ~0.5 kWh). Pyrolysis better for families with heavy grease. Hydrolysis enough for light use.

Bosch Series 6 HBG675BB1 — Best built-in oven (€749-€849)

TL;DR: 71 L built-in oven, A energy label, pyrolysis self-clean, 13 heating modes incl. EcoHotAir. For families of 4 baking 2-4 times a week.

What stands out: 71 L net capacity fits a double baking sheet. EcoHotAir saves ~15% on hot-air cycles. PerfectBake sensor (meat probe) adapts time to core temperature — done without clock-watching. Pyrolysis 1h30 → wipe out ash. AutoPilot programmes (lasagne, poultry, bread). Home Connect app for remote preheat.

Drawbacks: pyrolysis costs ~€1 per clean in electricity + room heat (open window recommended). Single meat probe (no 2-track). 4-layer glass door reaches ~45°C outside — watch with small kids.

Energy: 0.69 kWh per hot-air cycle 180°C 35 min. At 90 cycles/year: 62 kWh = €21/year. EU energy label: A.

Refurb tip: Coolblue Outlet stocks this regularly at 18% off with 2-year warranty. Bol Plaza Refurbed variable.

Miele H 7264 BP — Best premium with steam (€1,999-€2,299)

TL;DR: 76 L built-in oven with FlexiClip rails, FoodView camera inside, MoisturePlus steam injection and pyrolysis. For people wanting 15-20 years of oven certainty and restaurant-level cooking.

What stands out: MoisturePlus injects steam three times during the cycle — crisp bread crust, tender meat. FoodView camera streams to the Miele app (watch from the living room). FlexiClip rails extend baking sheets 100% without tipping. AutoCook 100+ recipes with auto temp/time. Pyrolysis + hydrolysis both present. Premium finish (steel panel, 5-layer glass door max 35°C outside).

Drawbacks: price. MoisturePlus 1 L tank needs filling before cycle. FoodView camera lens smudges quickly — weekly glass cleaning.

Energy: 0.59 kWh per hot-air cycle. 90 cycles = €18/year. EU energy label: A+ — lowest in this guide.

Refurb tip: Miele Outlet (miele.nl/outlet) showroom models 22% off, 2-year warranty.

Inventum IOH6072RT — Best budget built-in (€389-€459)

TL;DR: 65 L built-in oven, A-label, classic dials, no self-clean. For people wanting a reliable oven under €400 and willing to clean manually.

What stands out: 65 L fits a family of 4 (two lasagne dishes). 8 heating modes incl. hot air. Inventum is a Dutch brand — service via NL customer support. Simple dial operation (no app fuss).

Drawbacks: no self-clean — manual interior cleaning with oven cleaner. 3-layer glass door reaches ~55°C outside. Fewer programmes. No meat probe.

Energy: 0.78 kWh per cycle 180°C 35 min. 90 cycles = €24/year. EU energy label: A.

Refurb tip: Inventum refurb via Bol Plaza Refurbed.

Etna FIV160WIT — Best freestanding range (€599-€699)

TL;DR: Freestanding range 60cm white, 4-zone induction cooktop + 65 L A-label oven. For people buying cooktop and oven together without separate built-in cabinetry.

What stands out: induction cooktop with 4 zones (1 booster to 3000W). 65 L oven with hot air, grill, top/bottom heat. Freestanding = plug-and-play (only perilex socket needed). White feels 2026-retro — fits country-style kitchens.

Drawbacks: no self-clean. Oven A-label, cooktop carries no separate label. Etna less extensive in programmed recipes than Bosch/Miele. White shows cleaning streaks.

Energy: oven 0.85 kWh/cycle = €26/year at 90 cycles. Induction cooktop ~0.4 kWh per meal × 365 = €50/year (daily average).

Oven EU energy label: A. Refurb tip: Etna refurb via Bol Plaza approved sellers.

Bosch CMA585GS0 — Best combi microwave (€1,099-€1,249)

TL;DR: 44 L combi microwave built-in — microwave + hot-air oven + grill + light steam in one. For people who want a 2nd oven or have no room for a full built-in oven.

What stands out: 44 L (smaller than classic 65-71 L but larger than a microwave). 4-in-1: 900W microwave, hot air up to 230°C, 1500W grill, light steam. AutoPilot programmes for combi functions (roast chicken with hot air + microwave simultaneously = 40% faster). Home Connect.

Drawbacks: 44 L too small for two lasagne dishes or a large roast. Combi controls complex (steep learning curve). Price high for a microwave, reasonable for multi-function.

Energy: microwave 0.15 kWh per 5 min cycle. Hot-air mode 0.72 kWh per 30 min. Mixed use ~€30/year.

EU energy label: not applicable to combi microwave (microwaves carry no EU label). Refurb tip: Coolblue Outlet sporadic.

AEG BPK748380M — Best mid-range (€849-€949)

TL;DR: 71 L built-in oven, A+ label, SteamBake (steam injection ~3 times) and CommandWheel control. For people between Bosch Series 6 and Miele without Miele prices.

What stands out: SteamBake for bread and pastry (same principle as Miele, simpler). CommandWheel intuitive. Pyrolysis standard. CookView camera (in premium variant). MaxiKlasse 71 L.

Drawbacks: SteamBake tank smaller than Miele (250 ml). App only in BPK948320M variant (~€200 more).

Energy: 0.66 kWh per cycle. 90 cycles = €20/year. EU energy label: A+.

Refurb tip: AEG refurb via Coolblue Outlet occasionally.

Siemens iQ500 HB578GBS6 — Best Bosch alternative (€799-€899)

TL;DR: 71 L built-in oven, A-label, hydrolysis self-clean, varioSpeed Plus. For Siemens design over Bosch (shared platform).

What stands out: hydrolysis loosens grease with 80°C steam — 40 min cleaning, ~0.5 kWh (€0.17). Quieter than pyrolysis, less hot. varioSpeed Plus combines hot air with microwave mode for 50% faster baking (in HB678 variant). emotionLight interior LED. Home Connect.

Drawbacks: hydrolysis less thorough than pyrolysis on baked-on grease — heavy soiling still needs manual follow-up. ~€50 more than Bosch with identical tech.

Energy: 0.71 kWh per cycle. 90 cycles = €22/year. EU energy label: A.

Refurb tip: Coolblue Outlet.

What does an oven cost in electricity per year?

At NL electricity €0.34/kWh and 90 oven cycles/year on average:

  • A+ label (0.6 kWh/cycle): ~€18/year
  • A-label (0.7 kWh/cycle): ~€21/year
  • B-label (0.9 kWh/cycle): ~€27/year
  • C-label (1.1 kWh/cycle): ~€34/year

Pyrolysis cleaning costs ~3 kWh = €1 per run. 8× per year = €8. Hydrolysis 0.5 kWh = €0.17 per run = €1.40/year.

Compared to airfryer: airfryer 1.5 kWh per dish. For 1 chicken breast the airfryer wins on time and energy. For 2 chicken breasts plus sides the oven wins on total energy.

Preheat only for bread, cake and pizza where temperature shock matters. For stew, lasagne and roasted veg you can often start from cold — saves ~10% energy.

EU oven energy label (2021 scale)

New A-G scale since 2021. Almost no ovens reach A+ — most of the market sits at A (efficient), B or C. F-label sometimes appears on the oven portion of freestanding ranges where price beats efficiency.

When comparing: look at kWh per cycle (printed on the EU label), not just the letter. A 70 L A-label oven uses more in absolute terms than a 50 L B-label one.

Refurbished oven — when smart?

Ovens have few moving parts — pyrolysis element, fan rotor, door hinge. Refurb channels:

  • Coolblue Outlet: factory-refurbished Bosch, Siemens, AEG, 2-year warranty, 18-22% off.
  • Miele Outlet (miele.nl/outlet): showroom models 22% off, 2 years.
  • Bol Plaza approved sellers: 1-2 year warranty. Check seller reviews.

Avoid: second-hand oven >8 years old (door-hinge wear, pyrolysis element fails after 1,000 cycles). Refurb year 2-4 with 8 years lifespan left is rational.

Frequently asked questions

How many litres of oven for a family of 4? 65-75 L. Fits a double baking sheet or large lasagne dish + veg tray.

Pyrolysis or hydrolysis? Pyrolysis for families with daily oven use and grease. Hydrolysis for light use (2-3×/week).

Hot air or conventional? Hot air distributes heat evenly and saves ~20% energy. Conventional (top/bottom heat) better for some cakes/quiches where rising must start at the bottom.

Steam oven — worth the premium? For bread lovers and tender meat: yes. For standard oven dishes (lasagne, pizza, chicken): no — the €600-€1,000 premium won't pay back on energy alone.

Combi microwave or classic oven? Combi for small kitchens or 2nd ovens. Classic 71 L oven for families of 4+ as primary.

How often to self-clean? Bosch/Siemens advise every 30 cycles (~every 4 months at average use).

Can I use the oven in an open-plan kitchen? Yes, provided an extractor hood is present and on during pyrolysis. Pyrolysis emits light smoke the first 10 min — set extractor to level 3.

Can an airfryer replace my oven? For 1-2 people and short dishes: yes, ~60% of oven functions. For families of 4 or cake/bread/lasagne: no, capacity too small.
