GP
GP Batteries is a Hong Kong company founded in 1964 and one of the best-known global brands for batteries and rechargeable cells. The range covers virtually every battery format: AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, button cells for watches and hearing aids, plus rechargeable NiMH and lithium-ion cells with matching chargers.
GP positions itself on reliability and lifespan. The ReCyko line (rechargeable NiMH) holds 75% of capacity after 12 months of disuse — relevant for remote controls and sporadic use. For high-drain devices like digital cameras and flashes, the Lithium and Ultra Plus alkaline versions perform noticeably longer than standard alkaline.
Productvraag compares GP batteries and cells at Dutch retailers. Multipack deals (40 or 50 pieces AA/AAA) are typically 30-50% cheaper per battery than separate 4-packs, and bulk packs work considerably more cost-effectively for households with many battery-powered devices.

Frequently asked questions about GP
What does GP sell?
Disposable batteries (alkaline AA, AAA, C, D, 9V), lithium batteries for cameras and smoke detectors, button cells for watches, hearing aids and car keys, rechargeable NiMH cells and matching chargers, plus accessories like battery storage boxes.
Which GP battery is best for my use?
Remote controls, clocks, simple toys: standard Super Alkaline. Cameras, high-drain electronics: Ultra Plus or Lithium. Devices you use regularly (gaming controllers, wireless mice): ReCyko rechargeable NiMH with charger. Smoke detectors: Lithium for 10-year lifespan.
How long do GP batteries last?
Alkaline unopened: 7-10 years until expiration date. Lithium: 10-15 years. NiMH rechargeable: 500-1,000 charge cycles (~2-4 years regular use). The ReCyko Pro line holds 75% charge after one year — relevant for emergency supplies and sparingly used devices.
What do GP batteries cost?
Alkaline AA 4-pack: €2-4. AA 24-pack: €10-15. Lithium AA 8-pack: €15-25. NiMH rechargeable 4-pack: €12-22 (without charger), with charger €25-50. Button cells 5-pack: €5-12. Multipacks of 40-50 AA: €18-35 — about €0.40-0.70 per battery.
Are GP NiMH cells worth it?
For regular battery use: definitely. A 4-pack ReCyko replaces ~250+ alkaline AA batteries over its lifespan. For remote controls that run for years on one set, alkaline is more logical (low drain). For camera flashes, gaming controllers, and wireless peripherals, NiMH pays back quickly.
