As the campaign continues, it becomes clear that the writing is on the wall for Skeffington and his brand of hands-on politics.
Based on a novel by Pulitzer Prize-winner Edwin O'Connor (The Edge of Sadness) and adapted by Ford's regular screenwriter Frank S Nugent (The Quiet Man), The Last Hurrah blends comedy with the elegiac tone of the director’s best work.
