Rodrigo y Gabriela's In Between Thoughts...A New World is an instrumental concept album in the genre of acoustic-electric guitar rock fused with Latin, Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz harmonies and classical influences, released in 2023. Inspired by lead guitarist Rodrigo's discovery of nondualism philosophy during his recovery from COVID-19, the record explores themes of interconnected consciousness and personal enlightenment through spontaneously composed music self-produced in Ixtapa, Mexico. Departing from their traditional two-acoustic-guitar setup, Rodrigo predominantly plays electric guitar for a bolder tone, while Gabriela anchors the sound with her rhythmic acoustic strumming and thumping. The duo incorporates electronics, orchestral strings and percussion performed by the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, creating a fuller, expansive sonic palette without losing their signature energy and groove.

Mixed by James Monti and mastered by Greg Calbi, the album builds on their original style ambitiously, embracing complex rhythms and sophisticated ideas while maintaining a compact, entertaining flow.
