Sir Simon and the BPO follow the example of their 04/05 Silvesterkonzert release of Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’ by choosing such popular repertoire. Excerpts of the suite have been used in numerous TV programmes and films all over the world, making it instantly recognisable. Together with his numerous educational projects and some of his recent recordings (think Perfume soundtrack and The Planets) this Silvesterkonzert recording is another one which will open the door to classical music to the broader public.
