At the dawn of the American Civil War, the men from Cold Mountain, North Carolina, rush to join the Confederate army. Among them is the laborer Inman (Law) who with a heavy heart has to leave his beloved Ada (Kidman) behind. Ada has promised to wait for Inman, but as the war continues and letters go unanswered, she too must find the will to survive.

Cold Mountain is a love story of epic proportions. A story of perseverance, sacrifice, true love and friendship set against the backdrop of the American Civil War. Directed by Academy Award winner Anthony Minghella (The English Patient, 1996).
